Center for Aging & NeuroHealth Elder Care's mission is “to help senior adults remain healthy and independent” and our approach to achieving this mission is certainly unique.
The Center for Aging & NeuroHealth can provide primary care services with Oklahoma's first fellowship trained geriatrician and we also specialize in the care and treatment of Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease where you work with a multi-disciplinary team of physicians and professionals, who are all here for you.
Why is a Geriatrician important?
Elder Care's dynamic team in the W. R. Bohon Center for Aging & NeuroHealth includes a Geriatrician who specializes in caring for people over 60.
The body of an older person is substantially different from that of middle-aged adults and should be treated with these differences in mind.
Our clinic offers comprehensive geriatric assessments, primary
care services and complete care of older adults with complex medical
and social issues. Our appointments are longer than those of some of the other physicians in town. Because our clinic focuses on the individual needs of each client, each appointment is typically scheduled for 30 to 45 minutes because older adults can have a wide range of health issues and may need more time to address their problems or concerns with their physician.
Dr. Christopher A. Taylor, Oklahoma’s first Fellowship
trained geriatrician, works with patients to minimize the effects of aging and those health problems that affect older adults.
Dr. Taylor is a primary care physician, or can be part of your team of physicians including family practice physicians
and other health care providers to formulate a comprehensive health
care and social care plan.
Choose Dr. Taylor if you want a doctor with years of experience and training in restoring quality of life and promoting wellness.
What are the benefits of a comprehensive geriatric assessment?
- An improvement in independence, health, sense of control and
quality of life.
- A decreased likelihood of the need for hospitalization and a
delayed need for institutionalization.
- Improved understanding and self-management skills for chronic
illnesses such as diabetes or heart disease.
- Improved diagnosis and management of geriatric syndromes, such
as frequent falls, memory loss and loss of bladder control.
